How to keep calm with all the sh*& going on today.

Jan 21, 2021

Q: How do you keep calm with all the sh*# going on today? Racism, sexism, poverty, murder, abuse. The way people treat each other, the plants, and its creatures is disgusting. I find myself getting so angry. How do you find peace?

You might have heard the saying

as is the microcosm, so is the macrocosm.

It's a good one to keep in mind and meditate on.

What happens in the world is a reflection of what's going on inside of each one of us put together as a whole. The most important thing you can do is to make sure your contribution to that whole is love, not fear.

How can we create peace when we struggle with it ourselves? We can only put out into the world what we have inside. So the answer is in finding peace in the moment. And the next moment. And the next.

The work is internal first, then to family and community. Otherwise, we only bring into our relationships (whether it's with family or the world) the flip side of the same coin. It's still the same sh*& coin.

Energy is powerful, and it ripples out. Find peace with your Self and bring it to the world rather than expecting world peace to bring inner peace. Rather than dismissing, judging, or avoiding your own pain and inner conflict, look at them and work through them. That energy of looking at your own conflicts and working through them with love, patience balanced with a healthy sense of urgency and boundaries, learning to make the hard decisions, and learning to allow play in your life will ripple out through you.

Commit to pay attention to all the good that's happening in the world

because there is a lot of it, I promise.

When you start to feel better within yourself, you'll start to exude that out into the world. Finding peace doesn't mean that you won't feel the pain and injustices of the world. But you will start to understand that you are a part of the solution, and that by having found that peace, you will automatically start rippling that out into the world around you.

The more of us there is working on ourselves, the more exponentially we will see positive shifts in the world.
