How to Use Sound to Elevate your Support System

sound for support system

Last week we practiced using your breath as your support and anchor into the present moment. Through this practice, you’re able to sit with fear and any other emotion that comes up for you, so you can hear its message and respond with love.

Mantra meditation is another powerful support that you have access to in your practice and in your life. The more you bring these practices into your life off the mat the more powerful, useful and transformational they become.

Here are a few examples of how you can fold mantra into your daily life:

๐Ÿ‘‰ Needing to shift your state of mind or emotions? Turn on your favorite upbeat mantra music, stand up and dance wildly for the entire piece. Chant along or listen, breathing through your nose.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Cooking dinner? Play beautiful mantra music in the background, chant along with the music, infusing the food with the mantra and turning your meal prep into meditation.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Experiencing a negative thought loop? Chant silently or out loud: Sat Nam Sat Nam Sat Nam Sat Nam Sat Nam Sat Nam Wahe Guru (repeat, repeat, repeat until your thoughts shift, then chant it a few more rounds for good measure ๐Ÿ˜Š)

๐Ÿ‘‰ Want to turn any activity into a mindful or meditative practice? Play mantra, chant along and imagine the sounds dancing in all of your cells, celebrating life!

When you chant mantra you are literally shifting your brain waves. In fact, mantra means mind-wave. Through mantra, you’re vibrating your cells, changing your thoughts and nourishing your mind, body and soul.

In our Love your Life membership, we take a monthly deep dive into mantra through group meditation and discussion. Together, we recite one of the sections of Japji 11 times so you can feel it in your mouth, your body and your soul. Then, we talk about the meaning and what it means to us. This uplevels your experience and understanding of the sounds. Each section of Japji has its own meaning, it’s own vibration and you get to wrap yourself and support yourself through those sacred sounds.

These discussions are peer led, there’s no right or wrong and you get to share your own unique experience with the meditation (which is also a powerful exercise in supporting your throat chakra and receiving support from the community).

This month, we’re focusing on 2 pauris (sections or verses). The first elevates your divine nature, making you into a saint or sage. The second pulls in all the virtues of the heavens.

Talk about support!
