It starts with you

Sep 01, 2020

I was recently working with a client who referred to 2020 as a “dumpster fire of a year.” It’s hard to argue with that, but it got me thinking about how shifting our language and thoughts shifts our perspective. Which reminded me of this quote by Wayne Dyer:

“Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change.”

How can we consider the events taking place this year in different ways? I’m not talking about spiritual bypassing, but about challenging our thinking and trying on a new perspective in a way that shifts behavior and allows us to take meaningful action. Here are some examples:

This time that we’re in calls for more than your “thoughts and prayers.” Instead, take time to go deep within. Use your meditation practice for thoughtful introspection. Use it to challenge your beliefs, to be uncomfortable, to take on something new, to thoughtfully respond versus react, to say I’m listening. Take courage from your practice. And let it guide your actions.
