When life gets stressful, do this

Stress. It happens to all of us. Yep, even yogis. 

The key is to have your early detection system activated so you can recognize the stress and take action. Know your early warning signs - perhaps irritability, tension in your shoulders, poor sleep, digestive issues, eating too much sugar… take a moment and write down what you experience when you start to feel stressed

Next, take action

  1. Drink a glass of room temperature water
  2. Set your alarm for 5 minutes earlier tomorrow morning. Wake up and practice the One Simple Breath (yes you can do this in bed). Continue this every morning. Scheduling it in your calendar will help you stick to it.
  3. While you have your calendar open, pick 3 days in the next week, and schedule 30 minutes of exercise like yoga, walking, cycling or running. If it’s hard to find a 30 minute block, get creative, break it up into two 15 minute sessions, or three 10 minute sessions. 

In taking these actions, you’re prioritizing yourself, staying hydrated, soothing your nervous system through breath and movement, and releasing tension from your body and mind.
