It's never too late to do what you love

Summer is winding down and as I reflect on how I want to make the most of the next month - I’m thinking of the things I couldn’t wait to do at the beginning of the summer, but haven’t gotten to yet (sigh). If you can relate, then let’s commit to doing them, right now. I’ve found the sure fire way for me to get something done is to schedule it, and to tell my husband, T. When I schedule it, I create the space for it, and I want to be able to follow up, and share my experiences with him.

Besides, he'll ask me at some point and it’s no fun saying - oh that? well… I haven’t gotten around to it yet.

Accountability is key, especially with something you’ve been putting off.

Let’s partner with each other on this.

What’s one thing that you’ve been wanting to do, but haven’t?

Take a moment, right now, to open your calendar and schedule it for sometime in the next 7 days. Prioritize it, you won’t regret it! In fact, you can use this as part of your regular calendaring for the next month. Every Monday, look ahead and schedule something that you’ve been wanting to do but haven’t (in fact, schedule this exercise in for every Monday so you can make it a regular occurrence).

Then, hit reply and let me know what you’ve scheduled and when.

This makes accountability a two step process:

  1. Add it to your calendar
  2. Share with with someone

I’ll share mine… I haven’t brought my hammock to the lake a single time this summer! I can’t believe it because last summer I spent many afternoons lying in my hammock reading a book. It’s like a cozy cocoon. This Sunday, I’ve scheduled Hammock Time into my calendar at 11am to prioritize that for myself. Now that it’s in my calendar, I’m really looking forward to it!

Remember, it’s never too late to do the things you enjoy doing. Make the most of your time, calendar what’s important to you, and you’ll have the time, space and accountability to make it a reality.

With love,

Jodh
